The UK HIV Drug Resistance Database was a central repository for resistance tests performed as part of routine clinical care throughout the UK between 2001 and 2019. By the end of 2019 over 165,000 test results, most in the form of viral gene sequences, had been received and curated.

HIV drug resistance

A major area of research activity by the database was the national surveillance of HIV-1 drug resistance, tracking changes in its prevalence over time. Analyses were done separately for drug-naïve patients to monitor transmitted drug resistance (TDR), and drug-experienced patients to monitor the extent of resistance by drug class and prevalence of multi-class resistance.
